Innovative Activities

1) Giri Bhramanti Mohim:

    Forts have a unique general significance in history. A 'Giribhramanti' campaign has been launched since 2018 to know the historical significance of forts. More than 20 forts have been visited under this campaign.

2) Heritage Walk: 

    Heritage walks are organized to create awareness among the students about local history and historical heritage. During the Heritage Walk, students have learned about the history of Kolhapur city and its environs by visiting various historical places, monuments, statues, roads, historical squares, forts, temples, caves and many other historical places.

3) Modi Script Certificate Course: 

    Promoting historical Modi documents and scripts along with history research. One month Modi Script Certificate Course from the academic year 2017-18 has been started through the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension, Shivaji University, Kolhapur. with a view to increase research attitude among students through Modi script and provide employment opportunities. The students have responded well to this course.

4) Rajmudar Wallpaper: 

    Rajmudra’ is a wallpaper to give a boost to the creative writing skills of the students and to inculcate the sweetness of history research in them. Students have published wallpaper two or more wallpaper every year  

5) Gavancha Itihas (Village History)

    In order to create awareness among the students about the history of their villages and to create interest in historical research, the project of writing the history of villages based on the concept of local history has been continuously implemented since 2017-18.

6) Group Insurance for study Tour: 

    Every year a trip is organized for the history students through the history department. Group insurance of Rs. 1, 00,000/- per student is taken out for the students participating in the trip.

7) Exhibition of Historical Newspaper Articles: 

    Historical articles from various newspapers are collected through the students to enhance the reading culture among the students. Submitted articles are displayed in the notice board of the history department.

8) One book for Department:

    B. A. Part 3 students has been started One book for Department gift scheme, so that the students will remember them forever. Under this scheme many students have voluntarily donated books to the department. 

9) Genealogy writing project:

    This project has been started from the year 2019-20 with the aim that the students should find out the history of their own family and develop interest in history writing among them. B. A. These projects are prepared by the students of Part 3 for internal assessment marks.

10) Collection of Rare Coins: 

    Students should be familiar with Numismatics. In order to create awareness among them about the preservation and conservation of historical objects, the Department of History has started an initiative to collect rare coins through students and history-loving citizens. Principal Dr. I. H. Pathan has donated 30 coins to the department. Currently the department has more than 50 coins collected.

11) Published Booklet on History of Modern India: 

    In the year 2019, the department has organized one-day workshop on B. A. II  Revised syllabus of History subject. The speeches of the lecturers invited to this workshop have been published by the department in booklet format.

12) Department Blog: 

    The department has created a separate blog from the year 2019-20 to exchange information based on the history department and the curriculum.

13) Departmental Awards:

    Students should develop interest in history. Students should get maximum marks. The teachers of the department have kept prizes for the students with the aim of achieving good quality. Mr. S. D. The crime was committed by B.C. A. Part three for the first three students in the history subject. Memorial Award in the name of Dinkar Rajaram Apradh (Deposit amount Rs. 10,000/-). For the first coming student in the B. A. Part II history, Dr. S. D. Jadhav has kept an incentive prize (deposit amount of Rs. 5,000/-). For the first coming student in the B. A. Part III history, Dr. S. V. Shikhare has kept an incentive prize (deposit amount of Rs. 5,000/-).

14) Departmental Library: 

    The History Department has a separate library. In this library has more than 150 different Text books, References books and Back issues of periodicals.
